Dendramil Merchandizing '94 and Big Boss '96 trounced separate foes to keep their unbeaten records intact in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 8th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club of Cebu gym.
Class '94 coasted to its fourth straight victory in as many starts by crushing Rocket Battery '95, 62-52, while Class '96 stretched its undefeated streak to three following a 60-48 rout ofJV Bakeshop 2002.
Class '94 of coach Pablo Yu appears to be in the right track to regain the crown taken away from them by Class '96 last year.
Flashy guard Anwar Satina topped Class '94 with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. He scored eight in a game-closing 19-12 run that finally knocked the lights off Class '95.
Wellington Yu added 18 points, 12 rebounds, and a pair of blocks as Class '94 never looked back since taking an early 16-11 lead.
Donald Anthony Ting netted 24 points, but his one-man show couldn't prevent Class '95 from absorbing its second loss in three starts.
In the other game, Fritz Benedict Go, Dreyfuss Ang, and Arnel Frank Pelaez connived for 33 points for Class '96, which surprisingly chalked up its third straight win even without its three big men in Shaun Christopher Wang, Bryan Renejane, and Jennis Lim.
Class '96 ripped the game apart right from the start to mount a 15-point bulge, 22-7, at the end of the first period.
Class '96 toned down offensively in the next two quarters, but went back to business in the final, period to hand the slumping Class 2002 its third consecutive defeat in as many games.
