Class '67/83 outlasts listless '70s in CECABA hoopfest

Chester Enterprises '67/83 fought without two of its top gunners but there seems to be no problem as it handily beat Villa Shipping '70s, 45-32, in a low-scoring game of the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 8th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the City Sports Club of Cebu gym.

Class '67/83 missed the services of its scoring machine Stephen Tan and defense specialist Christopher Cokaliong, but their absence were hardly felt as the ageless Zotico "Tuco" Tan gamely picked up the cudgels to power the Chester Enterprises-backed squad to its second win against one loss.

Tan poured in 10 of his game-high 14 points in a sizzling 13-4 run in the second quarter that pushed Class '67/83 ahead by eight at the break, 21-13.

Class '67/83 did not have trouble in protecting its lead from that point on as it outscored Class '70s in the final half to wrap up the 13-point romp.

No player cashed in double figures as Class '70s slipped to its third straight defeat in as many starts.

In the other game, Lo had 17 points and Michael Lloyd Tan added 10 markers as JRJ Enterprises 2000 snapped out of its two-game losing slump with a 59-53 conquest of JV Bakeshop 2002.

Class 2000 saw its nine-point lead, 24-15, dwindled down to only three points after three quarters, but went strong in the windup to secure the win.

Oliver Boltron, Reniel Peña, and Rodnie Ocarol combined for 26 points as Class 2000 finally chalked up its first win of the season.

David Chan scattered a season-high 23 points, but his lone effort went futile as Class 2002 absorbed its second straight loss in as many starts.
