Chan, Mendez power teams to victory in CECABA

Joel Chan erupted with a season-high 25 points to lead Armour Wood '81/85 to a 61-50 victory over Dewfoam '88 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 8th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the City Sports Club of Cebu gym.
In the other game, Asian Home Appliance '89/93 relied on the endgame brilliance of Ryan Alexis Mendez to repulse Young Builders '91, 60-55.
Chan was ably backed up by Stephen Lee and Edvin Kaw, who cashed in 15 and 11 markers, respectively, as Class '81/85 coasted to its second straight victory in as many starts.
After a close battle in the first half, Class '81/85 turned the tide in its favor in the final half, where it outscored Class '88, 32-22, for the win.
Erwin Yu had 21 points, while Ricky Yu added 11 markers for Class '88, which fell to 1-1.
In the second game, Class '89/93 trailed by 11 points after three quarters, 35-46, but whipped up a fiery 25-9 storm in the windup to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Ryan Alexis Mendez poured in 15 of his topscoring 21 points in a decisive endgame run, while Allan Leith Ting chipped in 11 points as Class '89/93 chalked up its first win of the season against one loss.
Juan Borromeo, Jr. fired 23 points, but his lone effort could prevent Class '91 from absorbing its first loss in two starts.
