Palma to meet NBC South teams on Saturday

- Gabby G. Malagar -
National Basketball Conference (NBC) secretary general Tito Palma is coming to Cebu to preside a special meeting with team owners from the South at 1 pm this Saturday at the City Sports Club in Ayala Business Park.

One of the topics to be discussed is the preparations made by the NBC for the opening its first conference on March 10 as all team owners are requested to be present in the host city.

A total of 12 teams have confirmed their participation in the 2006 NBC season - seven from the South and five from the North.

The participating teams from the South are reigning champion Ozamiz Cotta, former champion Sirlitz-Skygo Tribu Sugbu, Hapee-Dewfoam, Iloilo Warriors, Iligan Crusaders, Valencia-Bukidnon Golden Harvest and expansion team Pagadian Explorers.

Representing the North are Bacchus Energy Drink, Baguio Lions, Parañaque Jets, Forward Taguig andTagaytay Hilanders, who bought the franchise of the Cavite Insurers who are now playing as guest team in the PBL.

Palma said he will also talk to Tribu Sugbu team owner Lito S. Gillamac, Jr. about a possible chance for Cebu's hosting of the NBC pre-season games.

The supposed January 26-29 schedule in Bogo was scrapped and the organizers said they will just set for another possible date when the sponsors are already in place.

The next swing of the NBC pre-season games will be in Tagaytay City on February 15.
