6th Gullas Cup: Carcar dumps Sibonga

Visiting team Carcar disappointed hometeam Sibonga as it logged its first win in the basketball event in the opening salvo of the 6th District Congressman Eduardo Gullas Basketball Cup at the Sibonga Sports Complex.
Carcar bucked all odds to beat the home team, 87-79.
On the other hand, Minglanilla's Dyzsa Jagna captured the eyes of the judges as she romp off the best muse award, winning over Sibonga's Rosemarie V. Abapo while Talisay City's Eula Dorothy M. Mercado finished third.
The event was spiced up by the performance of "Pinoy Ako", the theme song of the hit television reality show "Pinoy Big Brother," by each team.
Carcar rendered the best presentation followed by Minglanilla and Sibonga.
Also, the event inducted its new set of officers for 2006 namely Sibonga Vice-Mayor Jocelyn S. Sandigan as president and Dr. Nestor O. Velez (Carcar), Butch Enad, Jr. (San Fernando), Naga Vice-Mayor Val Chiong, Cording Mejias (Minglanilla) and Talisay City Councilor Rodi Cabigas serving as members of the board.
Commissioner were also named for basketball with Cabigas, volleyball with Velez, badminton with Robert John Selma and lawn tennis with Chiong.
Finance Manager is Edgar M. Mabunya and secretary is Engr. Jeanneth Villagonzalo.
Basketball matches will resume this Saturday in Naga featuring Carcar against Talisay while San Fernando entangles with Naga.
