Bong Coo banners field in Sinulog Open bowling

No less than International Hall of Famer Bong Coo banners the cast in the cash-rich 7th Metro Gaisano-San Miguel Corporation Sinulog Open Tournament which rolls off today at Gaisano Bowlingplex.

Coo, the first Filipino to nake it to the Guinness Book of World Records (1981 to 1988) is highly favored to rule the tournament owing to her track record.

Although the turnout of tournament partcipants increased this year with 34 teams registered, manger Elvis Lee of Gaisano Bowlingplex said keglers from Davao are not joining after they failed to secure billeting area with the Sinulog Mardi Gras this weekend.

However, teams from Iloilo, Bacolod, Manila and Cebu are expected to see action.

The tournament features team, doubles, singles, all events and masters.

Each team is composed of four players and will play a four game-series, while the top 28 players, based on their all events output, get the chance to qualify in the masters event where they will pay additional P600 registration fee. Squad I, composed of local players, start playing the team event tonight until January 12, while visiting teams jumpstart their bid Thursday evening before it wraps up on Saturday for the masters event.

The champion in the team event will pocket P18,000, the second placer gets P13,000, while third placer receives P8,000 plus trophies and medals

The doubles champion will receive P8,000 while the runners-up pocket P6,000 and P4,000, respectively.

The singles event and all events winners will go home with P7,000,P5,000, and P3,000, respectively.

On the other hand, the masters event champion gets P15,000 plus trophy, second place with P10,000, third place with P6,000, fourth place with P4,000 and fifth place with P2,000 while the 6th to 13th placers will go home with P1,000 each.

Perfect "300" Game Awards will get P100,000 but in case of a scratch the players will have to divide the prize.
