Manzano nets championship plum of Christmas Charity Fun golf

Ed Manzano withstood the rain and the soggy course and emerged as the overall lowest net champion of the Christmas Charity Fun Golf Tournament at the Cebu Country Club last Friday.
Edwin Espina had the lowest gross shooting ten-over-par 82 strokes.
Manzano had nines of 43 and 44 for a total gross of 87 strokes. Less his handicap of 20, he finished with a net 67.
The Friends Forever For Charity Foundation put the tournament together as a venue to share their blessings to the less fortunate.
The beneficiaries this year were the Tzu Chi Foundation, which received an Isuzu Forward truck and P150,000; the Missionaries of Charity, which got P350,000; and the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF), which was also given P350,000.
The FREEMAN Foundation and a parish based in Maya, Daanbantayan got checks of P30,000 each.
The class A title for the event went to Ernesto 'Dodong' Siguan with a net score of 70 strokes. First runner-up was Ben Li with a net 72 while Kenneth Dyguani bagged the 2nd runner-up plum with his net 73 after edging Roy Damole in the countback.
The class B title went to Davao's Winston Yap with a net 68 beating Korean Kwak Moon Sub in the countback. Kwak settled for the first runner-up honors while Edgar Lao with a net 71 bagged the 2nd runner-up honors after slipping past Edrian Tirol in the countback.
The ladies title went to Korean Michelle Lee while Gina Yap of the Manang Gina's Lutong Bahay fame was the runner-up.
Stephen Osmeña retained his most exercised golfer title.
Several individuals and companies from here and abroad donated to the tournament to share the less fortunate. Members of the FFFCF, a SEC-registered organization also chipped in to gather the amount needed for the donations.
The awards ceremony was held late Friday night at the clubhouse of North Town Homes. - NLQ
