Perennial power University of the Visayas Baby Lancer, however, will try to prove that they have not lost their touch as they look forward to a higher stakes that would install them back to the pedestal as Cebu's top secondary team.
UV will clash with the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology Baby Skyblazers in the opening skimish set at 8 am, while USP touches off the floor at 9 am opposite the roaring Don Bosco College Greywolves.
On the other hand, defending aspirants division champion Sacred Heart School- Jesuit will startits quest for another unbeaten season as it collide with four other contender in the 16-Under division starting Dec. 17 at the SHS-J gym.
Challenging the might of the Jesuits are University of San Carlos Boys, University of Southern Philippines, Don Bosco College and Cebu Institute of Technology.
Last year, SHS-J was unbeaten in all of its seven games to gain a slot to the National Inter-Secondary Championship in Dumaguete City last March.
It was the first time in 50 years that the school went to compete in a national basketball and readily proved its worth by barging into the quarterfinal round.
