AGCC Christmas golf tees off

The 2005 Christmas Fun Golf Classic of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club tees off today with half of the field set to see action in the par-72 golf course in Pardo, this city.

The tournament is open exclusively to members of the club and the guests of the sponsors.

The tournament will be using the stroke play format with prizes at stake for the top finishers of the different handicap classes for men, and also the ladies, seniors, juniors, and guest divisions.

At stake for an ace is a Kia Picanto on holes No. 2 and 13, a Yamaha golf cart from Kart Plaza on No. 6 and 15, and a residential lot from Sta. Lucia Realty on No. 15.

Up for an ace on all par-3 holes are P100 thousand from CICI General Insurance and a P50 thousand coupon from Casino Filipino-Mactan.

The major backers of the tournament are Globe Telecom and Taiyo Yuden (Phils.), which have been the most consistent top backers of the club's key tournaments.

Also supporting the tournament are Lilly Industries (Cebu) Inc., Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) Inc., and Petron/Carlos A. Gothong Lines.

A Skygo motorcycle is at stake for an eagle on all par-4 holes.

The hole sponsors of the tournament are Bambi Cooking Oil, Sharp (Phils.) Corp., APP, Aviva-CGU International Insurance, Cebu Mitsumi Inc., Cebu Progress Commercial, DCD Construction Inc., Equitable PCI Bank, Hacienda Salinas-Taft Property Venture Dev't Corp., Hudson Paints, and Pilipinas Shell.

A total of 261 players are seeing action in the tournament, which also serves as the club's Christmas celebration for its members. The award rites will be held tomorrow at the AVGCC ballroom.
