Tribu Sugbu feels confident in NBC pre-season caging

- Gabby G. Malagar -
Towering Sirlitz-Skygo Tribu Sugbu is confident it can put up a good fight in the NBC Natures Spring Pre-Season Tournament-Congressman Ronnie Puno Cup on December 2-6 in Antipolo City.

A total of eight teams, four of them from NBC, are seeing action in the five-day tournament. The eight teams will be divided into two brackets.

Tribu Sugbu, the champions both in the national finals and the NBC pre-season games last year, will be reinforced by reigning MVP Chris Nicdao as center. The other centers are Randy Sevilla and Philip Butel.

The eight participating teams are Tribu Sugbu, Forward Taguig, Laguna-Spring, Bacchus Energy Drink, Antipolo, Antips, BC Cuerpo and Sumulong-Jarencio Team.

The team is leaving for Antipolo on November 30. The official line-up for the Antipolo pre-season games are Ronaldo Bucao, Alex Cainget, Doroteo Almacin, Miguelito Ducay, Francis Sanz, Maui Huelar, Kim Calo, McDonald Santos, Marvin Mercado, Bernie Ursal , Butel and Nicdao.

Nicdao and Butel played for NBC reigning champion Ozamiz Cotta before they decided to move to Tribu Sugbu for the pre-season games.

They are participating in six of seven NBC pres-season games scheduled from December up to February next year. The only tournament they will be skipping is the Ilocos Sur leg on December 10-13, which will follow immediately after the Antipolo games.

Tribu Sugbu is joining in the pre-season games in Valencia on January 7-10, Pagadian on January 12-15, Cebu on January 26-29, Gen. Santos city on February 9-12 and in Iligan City on February 16-19, the last leg of the pre-season games, before the April 1 opening.
