PNP enters semifinals in Hua Ching tablenet

Defending champion Philippine National Police (PNP) entered the semifinal round of the 4th Hua Ching Invitational Table Tennis Tournament at the Mandaue City yesterday.

Manned by Richard Gonzalez, Henberg Ortalla and Rondel Valle, PNP pounced LOPTTA to gain the ticket to the next round.

Cebuano Gonzalez, an RP mainstay, led PNP with an 11-9, 11-9, 11-3 win over Loptta's Jimenez.

Ortalla sustained the momentum and secured the second game with a four-set win over Jonard while Valle also survived a close match with Uy.

On the other hand, Hua Ching-A composed of RP team member Harold Baring Antonio Aguinalde, the returning Julius Esposo and Chinese coach Mark Po gave some neat lessons to TATAP-Cebu.

Po grabbed a three-set win over TATAP-Cebu's Michael Motel, 11-6, 11-5,11-6 while Baring duplicated Po's performance, hacking out an 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 win over Emmanuel Motel.

Esposo ended the match for Hua Ching-A with an 11-5, 11-10, 11-10 scoring over Glendo Nayre.

PNP and Hua Ching-A are joined by NetChums and TATAP-USA in the semifinal round.

TATAP-USA earlier defeated Duplex team while NetChums won over Hua Ching.

PNP meets NetChums while Hua Ching A will go up against TATAP-USA.

Of the two, Hua Ching A is said to be having the tougher task with TATAP-USA composed of another RP member Joseph Cruz, Arsenio De Guzman and Noel Gonzalez.
