October 26, 2005 | 12:00am
The Sirlitz-backed Skygo/Tribu Sugbu will play a goodwill match against five-time Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) cage champs University of the Visayas Green Lancers tonight at the Consolacion Sports Complex.
Tribu Sugbu lost to Ozamiz Cotta in the South division finals last week.
Tribu Sugbu chief tactician Al Solis will be going up against the UV Lancers of coach Elmer "Boy" Cabahug. Curiously, Solis is Cabahug's assistant at the UV Lancers bench.
After tonight's game, Tribu Sugbu and the Lancers will clash in another friendly encounter on October 29 in Lapu-lapu City. This time, Tribu Sugbu will be carrying the name of Skygo-Harumi.
The former NBC champion will be playing minus Marvin Mercado, Egay Ignacio and Michael Luga.
In Lapu-Lapu, Tribu Sugbu will be reinforced by at least two players from Harumi.
The Lancers, who defeated the UC Webmasters in their best-of-three finals last October 8 at the UV gym, will be coming in full force bannered by the triple towers of Rino Berami, Ariel Mepaña and Randy Sevilla and of course MVP Mark Ababon.
Expected to carry the load for Tribu Sugbu are Alex Cainglet, Bernie Ursal, Ronaldo Bucao, Rex Mangubat, Chris Ferraren and Eduardo Pening, among others.
Also playing for the Lancers are Jayford Rodriguez, Jaysar Esperat, Vergel Abelong, Jaymar Tacaldo, Eduardo Arda, Kim Calo, Morsie Akad, Von Harry Lanete, Gaylord Santos, and Eulogio Lasala Jr.
