VRJ extends win streak to 5 in PPSA basketball

VRJ Engineering extended its winning streak to five after nosing out Jonfer Enterprises, 72-65, while Kartabz trounced Collins, 78-56, to close the elimination round in the 40-above division of the Punta Princesa Sports Association at Vicente Sotto Memorial gym.
VRJ narrowed a six-point deficit in the first period, 17-23, as they stepped on the gas in the succeeding quarters to take the lead until the final canto behind the leadership of Dodong Rosaroso and playmaker Michael Arias, who finished 14 and 16 points, respectively.
Jun Ando, Bert Migraso and Arnold Petallar topscored for the losing team with 12 and 10 points apiece.
On the other hand, the trio of Serge Cortez, Rey Lopez and Sencio Ibo sparked a first quarter rally to put Kartabz ahead with a huge margin, 52-28, at the bend.
Playing coach Norwin Honoridez employed stifling defense as Kartabz maintained its rampage until the payoff period.
Cortez and Diego Padogdog dished out 16 and 14 points, while Honoridez, Ramir Nabua, Lopez and Ibo combined for 40 points.
