Cebuano junior netters Francis Largo and Jacob Lagman unleashed their prowess in the clay court to win their respective divisions in the Olivarez Age-Group Tennis Tournament yesterday in Paranaque City.
Second seed, Largo of the University of the Visayas battle down fourth seed Mark Balse, 6-3, 6-2, in the boys 16-under division.
His victory earned him 100 Philta points for the national ranking where he is no 6th in the country.
On the other hand, Lagman of St. Benedict Childhood Education comfortably dispatched perennial rival Calvin Canlas in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, to claim the unisex 10-under division.
But all did not end well for Lagman as he failed to make a double victory when faltered in the boy's 12-under, bowing to Kim Polero of Manila, 3-6, 2-6.
Kristel Mae Buenacosa of the University of San Carlos lost her bid in the finals but not without putting up a good fight against Macy Solon of Dumaguete City, 3-6, 4-6, in the girls 16-under category. - Sona Mae V. Povadora
