Alta Vista paces Sta. Lucia golf tour

Host Alta Vista Golf and Country Club felt right at home at the start of the Sta. Lucia Golf Tour 2005 last Friday posting leads in the team and individual events.
Alta Vista 1, which is considered as the club's heavyweight team, paced Group 1 of the tournament with a total output of 153 points in the four-man team format where only the three best scores in the Molave Points System would count for the total.
Reigning club champion Carl Almario and Edito 'Nonoy' Tirol paced the team with identical outputs of two-over-par 52 points each. Ramontito Garcia added 49 points while the 48 of Joseph Stevens did not count.
Seven points adrift is Eagle Ridge 1 of Cavite with 146 points behind the efforts of Jan Coup Tambogon (51), Gary Sales (51), and Arnold Jumalon (44).
Alta Vista 3 is two points further back with 144. Victor Gocela led the team with 50 points followed by club treasurer Ramon Sebastian with 48, and Dennis Canoy with 46. The 44 of Evans Tumaliwan did not count.
In Group 2, Alta Vista 5 set the pace with a total of 132 points courtesy of Deo Gabasa with 51, Victor Yuvallos with 41, and Nestor Mendoza with 40. The fourth player is Edwin Medalle, who shot 34.
Palos Verdes 4 of Davao is at second spot with 126 points from Ronald Galicia (43), Jessie Tan (43), and Andrew Bautista (40).
Alta Vista 7 and 6 were tied at third spot with 116 points apiece. Alta Vista 7 is composed of Peter Aznar, Andrew Aznar, Ricky Aznar, and Mar Selma, while Alta Vista 6 has Felix Villanueva, Rolando Alberto, Gerry Quintos, and Al Alcibar.
The only lead in the team event that wasn't held by the hosts was in Group 3 paced by Eagle Ridge 4 shooting 111 points. Michael Tan led the team with 41 points and was backed by Francis Villafuerte's 38 and Elpidio Ong's 32. Only three players competed in the first round.
Tied for the second spot were Alta Vista 13 and 11 with 102 points each while Alta Vista 10 is a close third with 101.
Alta Vista 13 is the team of Alan John Larot, Juanito Luna, Eduardo Alegrado, and Ramoncito Arquiza. Team 11 is composed of Jacinto Tan, Hansel Ong, Henry Uy, and Jonathan Yu.
The third placed team 10 is composed of Michelle Lee, husband and wife Ernesto and Joy Siguan, and Gina Yap.
Richard Joson of newcomer Lakewood joined Almario and Tirol atop the leaderboard for class A players with their outputs of 52 points apiece.
One point back were Tambogon and Sales while Gocela scored 50 points.
In class B, Gabasa set the scorching pace with his 51 points and was followed by Wendell Yap of Alta Vista 2 and Tumaliwan with 44 apiece together with Jumalon of Eagle Ridge.
Royal Tagaytay's Norberto Badenas together with Jessie Tan of Palo Verdes lead class C with 43 each. Following them are Peter Militante of Alta Vista 12, Andrew Bautista of Palos Verdes 4, and Richard Lim of Alta Vista 9 with 40 apiece.
Dominador Lanoy of Palos Verdes 10 leads class D with 38 followed closely by Carmelo de Jesus of royale Tagaytay 3 and Carlo Carag of Royale Tagaytay 8 with 37 points each.
