Buhawi, Destriza to settle unfinished business in Kawayan, Biliran

PBF No. 3 super bantamweight contender Romeo Buhawi of Cebu's Flores Gym and PBF ranked No. 4 jr. featherweight Rey Destriza of Sogod, Leyte's Batoto Stable will try to settle some unfinished business as they topbill the first ever pro boxing promotion in Biliran Province billed as "Todo Engkuwentro sa Kawayan" on October 20 at the Kawayan Social and Civic Center.
Buhawi and Destriza are expected to figure in a grudge rematch of sort having fought to a technical draw in the second round during their first encounter last August 16 at the Maasin City Sports Complex. Buhawi carries a 9-2-1 win-loss-draw record, while Destriza sports a 9-4-3 win-loss-draw card with 5KOs. In the supporting main event of the six-bout fight card presented by the local govenment unit of Kawayan, Biliran in partnership with Rex "Wakee" Salud Promotions International, Cebu City's Darius Dag-uman takes on the undefeated Armando Casa of Bato, Leyte.
Ozamiz City's Jeffrey Jimenez, on the other hand, battles Iloilo City's Jomar Labiogo, a national amateur champion who will have his baptism of fire in the pro ranks.
In the preliminary bouts of this Games and Amusements Board (GAB)-sanctioned slugfest, Mandaue City's Peter Paul Suico mixes it up with Iloilo City's Bonnie Maido, Lapu-Lapu City's Gedion Amba meets Cagayan de Oro City's Jerich Chavez, and Cebu City's Romart Sentillas tackles Bacolod City's JunJay Gamboa.
The slambang show, which is a golden anniversary presentation of Kawayan's San Raphael de Archangel Parish, is also supported by Biliran Governor Roger J. Espina, Rep. Gerry "Boy" Espina, Naval Mayor Gerry S. Espina, Sr. and Kawayan Mayor Rudy J. Espina, Sr.
