Donnie "The Snake" Nietes of the ALA Boxing Stable got the impression of Boholano boxing fans after he scored a clinical second round TKO win over Cagayan de Oro City's Randy Narbay in the other night's pro boxing show that highlighted the closing of the 19th Visayas Inter-City Amateur Boxing Championships at the Island City Mall Activity Center in Tagbilaran City.
The RP ranked No. 2 light flyweight contender Nietes, who is handled by international promoter Sammy Gello-ani, stopped Narbay for good at 1:29 of the second round to improve his win-loss-draw record to 11-1-2, now packed with nine stoppages.
It was Nietes's third straight victory since absorbing his first and only defeat so far at the hands of Indonesian Angky Angkota via controversial split verdict on September 28 last year in Jakarta. In the undercards of the slambang event presented by SGG Sports Promotions International, Glenn Masicampo hacked out a unanimous decision victory over Chris Alag, while Tiny Tyson fought to a split draw with Rey Las Piñas.
