Talisay v-belles seize cluster I crown

The Talisay volleybelles emerged as champion in cluster I to earn the first slot in the provincial meet of the 1st Governor Gwen Garcia Volleyball Unity Cup last Sunday at the Talisay Sports and Cultural Complex.

Talisay, powered by its skipper Florianne Gutierrez, a member of Southwestern University three-time champion team in Nestea Beach Volley competition, crushed Minglanilla in straight sets, 25-24, 25-12, to pocket the P10,000 champion's purse.

It was Talisay City's fifth straight victory in as many games.

Minglanilla, which totes a 3-2 win-loss card, still has something to cheer about aside from pocketing P5,000 as it also marched into the provincial level later this year.

Meanwhile, the battle in cluster II will kick off on October 1 in Alcoy.
