The other semifinal slot went to USJ-R's Jason Pinote and University of Cebu's Janjie Soquino, who tamed their respective rivals. Pinote overpowered his teammate Pierson Querubin in a super tie-break ending the action at 6-2, 4-6 (10-4).
In the distaff side, the semifinalists are USC's Stephanie Vasquez and Trina Tizon versus USJ-R's Benebeth Patindol and UV's Nelly Jane Villarico, respectively.
On the other hand, defending secondary boys division champion University of the Visayas and the University of San Jose-Recoletos share the lead with identical 2-0 win-loss marks.
UV claimed its second win after defeating USC, 2-0.
James Karl Cañete clobbered Jayson Espinosa at 8-1, while Canete's teammates Francis Largo and Ryan Repunte coasted to an 8-2 win over Dandreb Beteros and Espinosa.
USJ-R grabbed a 2-1 win over USC.
Jade Labaya lost to USC's April Joy Ledesma at 8-5, but USJ-R bounced back with Jayvee Canoy and April Joy Ledesma outsmarting Christian Paul Cabahug and Lloyd Cañete, 8-6.
In the deciding match, Gerald Lambayan secured the victory for USJ-R with an 8-4 win over Eric Pepito.
In the girls division, USJ-R takes the solo lead after winning against UV, 2-0.
Jin Querubin beat Julieann Jopia, 8-3 and then proceeded with a doubles win with Glenna Lambayan over Jopia and Sheena Marie Pabo, 8-2.
