Cebuano cyclists take Suarez Cup 2005 by storm

Cebuano pedal-pushers ruled anew in Maasin City, dominating the Suarez Cup 2005.

Robert Villaver lead the charge as the three-time campaigner of the Tour Pilipinas grabbed the overall yellow jersey of the debuting class A race, clocking four hours, 29 minutes and 25 seconds in 164-kilometer action.

Another Tour campaigner, Jovani Delica trailed Villaver with 4:30:15.3 as Antonio Nebria was third with 4:31:35:68.

First stage winner Jaybop Pagnanawon was fourth overall in 4:32:37.8 and another fast-rising junior cyclist, Junmar Villarosa, clinched the fifth honors in 4:34:20.32.

In class B, it was Neil Duhaylungsod who got the top post with 5:42:95.

Darwin Limbaga took the second spot in 5:57.85 as the third to fifth places went to Marnel Gabato, Henri Tampus and Junjun Canasa.

Class A and B was actually a sweep for the Cebuanos as class C saw Jonas Tan winning the overall title in 3:27:23.29 in the event presented by the Suarez Family and supported by RECYCLE and the Maasin HiTorque Cycling Club.-Caecent No-ot
