Visayas Inter-City opens in Tagbilaran City today

The 19th Visayas Inter-City Developmental Age Group Amateur Boxing Championships will kick off today at the Island City Mall in Tagbilaran City.
A total of 10 teams will be competing for the championship crown in the event organized by the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines-Visayas Chapter with the support of the local amateur boxing associations of Tagbilaran City and the Province of Bohol.
Perennial overall team champion Team Cebu City us leading the cast which will also see arch rival Mandaue, Tacloban, Talisay, Cadiz, Bacolod, Bago, Maasin and hosts Tagbilaran and Bohol Province.
The opening ceremonies will be held today and the battle for supremacy in the seven-weight division amateur boxing tournament will kick off tomorrow.
Defending champion Team Cebu City will be fielding in a complete line-up of boxes namely Erwin San Roque in the 32-kilogram class, Ricardo Campaña (34kg), Eddie Pantilcan (36kg), Apolonario Chavez (39), Jestoni Borres (42), Jonas Miñoza (45) and Michael Taborada (48).
Mandaue City will have Kevin Jake Pelayo (32), Jefferson Bariga (34), Wilbeth Loberanis (36), Jomare Yuson (39), Ademar Pagidopon (42), Dario Luga (45) and Mark Lee Colaste (48).
All bets of Team Cebu City and Mandaue City are coming from the famed ALA Boxing Gym here in Talamban.
Also, Talisay will have one boxer from the ALA gym. He is Ryan Pasignahan, who will be fighting in the 39kg class.
Aside from the individual gold medal which the boxers will won and the overall championship trophy, a Best Boxer award will also be given.
