CESAFI FOOTBALL UV kicks USPF, 11-2

The University of the Visayas Kicking Lancers registered its second straight win as they handed the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) an 11-2 thumping in the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation, Inc. football event yesterday at the Sacred Heart School-Jesuit field.

The Kicking Lancers started their demolition job early with Kurt Acre, who made three goals, ignited at the 12th minute before he made a follow-up at the 21st minute.

At the 32nd minute Junard Aguilar found the back of the net, but it was USPF's Noboshiro Kawashita who prevented a shutout as he banged in at the 43rd minute.

However, UV always found an answer with Acre striking his third goal a minute after for the 4-1 count at the turn in their favor.

Though, USPF continued to struggle, they have Kawashita to give UV some scare and to save them from total humiliation as he knocked in his second goal at the 50th to make it 4-2.

But in the succeeding minutes, the field became UV's virtual playground as they scored one after another to further balloon their lead behind Martin Bontia at the 58th, Josaphat Sacil at the 62nd and 81st, Jake Acre at the 72nd and 75th and Fritz Gomora to seal the victory at the 87th minute.

University of Cebu, on the other hand, bounced back from a draw against USPF last week to a 5-3 rout over Cebu Institute of Technology, who is yet to win its assignment.

CIT broke the ice courtesy of Julius Jumao-as at the 15th minute, but UC's Antonio Montecillo even the count at 1-all after a goal at the 24th minute.

Rodney Gandiongco sneaked in three minutes after while Montecillo added at the 44th minute.

Jumao-as' second goal came in at the 51st minute only to get some response from UC's Jimmy Oclaret at the 59th and Gandiongco at the 69th minute.

On the other hand, University of San Jose Recoletos is now on top of the heap with a 6-0 win-loss standing in both women's and men's volleyball.

The USJ-R volleybelles blasted grand slam champion Southwestern University, 25-18, 25-18, 23-15, 25-20 yesterday at the Aznar Coliseum.

USP, on the other hand, toppled UV, 25-20, 25-14, 26-24, 25-21, to clinch second spot with a 4-1 win loss record.
