CESAFI basketball: USC eyes repeat over USPF

The University of San Carlos Warriors will seek to extend their winning streak against the University of Southern Philippines-Panthers today as the second phase of the elimination round of the Cebu School Athletic Foundation (CESAFI) basketball event kicks off today at the USC main gym in Sanciangko St.
Games today: (USC gym) 2 p.m. Don Bosco vs. UV (juniors) 3:30 p.m. USC vs. USP (juniors) 5 p.m. USC vs. USP (seniors)
The Warriors, fresh from stealing an 84-81 victory over the Panthers at the USP gym last Thursday, will be out today hoping to improve their 3-2 win-loss record.
The Warriors will again rely on Niño Ramirez, Enrico Llanto, Vermini Tangarorang, Mark Loyola, James Tagalog and Kailash Sharma.
A consistent third placer in the CESAFI, the Panthers are bidding to end their losing skid with key players Elvis Labares, Arletroy Mercader, Bryan Travero, Jason Bartolabac, Marlon Demape, Randy Colonia and skipper Glenn Pendang at the helm. They are sporting a 2-3 card.
Meanwhile, the Baby Panthers eye for a repeat over the Baby Warriors while in the opener of a triple offering, solo leader University of the Visayas Baby Lancers go up for their fifth win in six games. They defeated Don Bosco in the first round, 66-48 last August 9 at the USJR gym in Basak.
