Bobby Villareal sent me e-mail last week about a Touch Rugby League that plays every Sunday between 3 to 5 pm at the SVD field along F. Sotto St. near Richmond Hotel. If you still need more directions, this is the place right behind USC-Boys School, which is now known as the USC-Basic Education Department North Campus.
This sounds very interesting and maybe our friends, who'd like to try this new sport can go visit the place.
If you want more information, you can contact David Smith through (032) 233-0211 or send e-mail to david@creativenations.com
This could be the sport that you've been hoping for.
I'm referring to Michael Yu, who is helping his cousin-in-law Didi Gullas spread the good news about a coming badminton tournament. Well, it's actually more than just a badminton tournament since it also is one of the highlights for opening of the La Fleche Badminton Shop along Gorordo Ave. beside EPCI Bank on September 8.
The tournament will be held at the Portside Badminton Plaza and Mike said, will be one of the biggest tournaments in terms of prizes to be given away.
The tournament will open on September 9.
More than an event for the enthusiasts to enjoy, it was also for a greater cause with the Gawad Kalinga as beneficiary. As of last Saturday, I learned that they were able to raise funds to build at least ten houses for the Gawad Kalinga Project, which is providing homes for the homeless.
Building a house has never been that easy. All you had to do was hit shuttlecocks and enjoy the game.
I hope there will be more similar events in the future.
These tournaments prove to us that there is indeed hope for the Filipinos and I'd like to congratulate some of the people behind it like Customs Collector Lourdes Mangaoang, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Robert Go, and my college classmate and good friend Mae Carmel de Pio-Salvador.
The event will be played at the club's course in Danao City, which now boasts of a well-paved road from the highway going into the golfing enclave in Barangay Pulangyuta.
This will be a four-man team event with the best three scores to count for the team total. The score of the club member, who is part of the team, must count.
See at the golf course and during the festivities.
Though Chris is almost a foot taller than me, he has always been there to be a friend and a brother. More power to you!
