Cebu jocks sizzle in Davao triathlon

It was a long and very tiring trip all the way to Davao City, but the stress did not matter as Cebu's finest triathletes scored victories in their respective categories in the 2nd Mayor's Cup Age-Group Sprint Triathlon held at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao City the other day.

Eldy Banluta led the charge by winning the overall title with a time of 1 hour and 10 minutes to go away with P5,000 and the champion's trophy.

The 25 year-old RP mainstay, Banluta defeated teammate Gerrie Calinawan who finished in 1:13 as Davao City's very own Keith James Argones settled third in the 750 M swim-20 Km bike-5 Km run event.

Other Cebuano triathletes, locally supported by APL Trading, OZ Racing, TWO, RJA Pawnshoppe, Anything Timber, Homeworks, American Feeds, Ibarra Design Ltd. Inc, and H2Zero Distilled Drinking Water were never left behind with Trino Rey Trasmonte winning the 30-34 age bracket's top post and Neil Reyes in the 35-39 class.

The comebacking Israel Nunal sealed Cebu's bid with the second place in the 20-24 class.

Their next race for the group will be the 6th leg of the SPEEDO-National Age-Group Triathlon (NAGT) series hosted by Cagayan de Oro City on September 18.
