Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano yesterday led members of the city hall in hurdling the different tasks set in the two-day Mandaue City Charter Day Adventure Challenge.
Before the start of the games, Ouano told his fellow workers that there is more to the adventure race than being a Charter Day activity.
He said the race is symbolic and posed a challenge to the Mandauehanons to try to overcome whatever challenges that may come their way, like the challenge on cost cutting.
Also, Manila City Sports Council chairman Ali Atienza, who is the special guest, said the competition will help keep both the officials and its employees "well-balanced" to be able to deliver well the services to the people.
The third edition of the Adventure Challenge saw 10 groups joining the battle.
The Orange Group drew the first blood yesterday with pretty and bubbly Jessica Shaw from the City Health Office bagging the best muse award.
The other groups include the defending champion Blue led by the Mayor's Office, Yellow led by COA and City Treasurer's Office.
Red is spearheaded by the Department of General Services, Violet by the City Engineer's Office, Violet by the City Engineer's Office, Green by the Philippine National Police, Pink by the barangay officials, Brown by DepEd, Grey by City Agriculture's Office and White by the City Legal Office.
All the teams will have to perform 18 challenges.
The events include the war games, egg catching, tower transfer, kite-making, newspaper tower, modified sack race, relay, fruit eating contest, ball relay, hula hoop, longest line, jack n' poy, ice challenge and Fear Factor. - Caecent No-ot with Sona Mae Povadora
