First Customs Badminton Cup set Aug. 27-28

-
The First Customs Collector Cup Badminton Tournament is set on August 27-28 at The Courtyard at the North Reclamation Area.

The event is a project of the Bureau of Customs, which was started by former Commissioner Antonio Bernardo. It was stopped and is being adopted by new Commissioner Alexander Arevalo.

The tournament was created to continue the project of Gawad Kalinga Foundation, the beneficiary.

Lawyer Lourdes Mangaoang is initiating and reorganizing the project through a Badminton Tournament for a Cause.

Mangaoang said the tournament is open to Cebu port users like the Department of Trade and Industry, the bankers association, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, MEPZA locators, Cebu truckers, PhiExport, Opascor, Land Transportation Office, exporters and importers.

The project is organized by BOC, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Customs Brokers Inc., PISFA, AISL and DTI.

The categories set are men's doubles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles and the eligibility is from levels A to E. The tournament will be using the knockout format or the 15-point system.

A registration fee of P500 will be collected per player. It will include T-shirt, shuttlecocks, court fees, raffles and prizes plus surprises.

Entry forms and payments should be processed during the leveling dates on August 20 and 21 at The Courtyard.

Champions will receive cash prize and trophy and runners-up will receive trophy. No amount yet has been fixed.

CCCI president Robert Go has called on individuals and corporate establishments to also give their donations and to be partners for the success of the project.

All inquiries can be had at the CCCI office. - Gregg M. Rubio
