CESAFI to stage 4 out-of-town games

The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) will hold four out-of-town games when its 5th season opens on Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.

There will be games at the Minglanilla Sports Center, Tabunok, Pardo and Mandaue City, according to commissioner Danny Duran.

The CESAFI will hold games in Minglanilla during the first round on August 13 featuring last year's third placer University of Southern Philippines Panthers against the Cebu Institute of Technology Wildcats.

On August 17 during the second round, four-time champion University of the Visayas Green Lancers, who are unbeaten in 46 consecutive games since the term of Elmer "Boy" Cabahug as coach in 2001, will go up against the Panthers.

Three other out-of-town games will be held in Mandaue on August 20 pitting the Lancers against University of Cebu Webmasters, a match-up that is expected to draw a huge crown as both schools have branches in Mandaue City.

The other games will be in Pardo on August 27 with UC and USP going up against each other and in Tabunok on September 3 between UV and CIT.

The CESAFI is adopting anew the home-and-away format under the auspices of current CESAFI president Jose "Dodong" Gullas of UV to give students from their respective schools an opportunity to cheer for their teams.

This Sunday's games at the Cebu Coliseum will feature the high school and collegiate teams from UC and CIT.

Games will immediately follow after the 1 p.m. grand palabas where all CESAFI-member schools will present dance numbers.
