Batch '97A survives Hytsu 2005 in SHABA

- Sona Mae V. Povadora -
Defending champion Gillamac '97A survived a strong resistance from the gritty Hytsu 2005, 64-62, while Worldwide Steel remained unbeaten after bumping off Cebu Del Norte '95, 62-58, in the Sacred Heart Alumni Basketball Association (SHABA) at the SHS-J gym.

Down by two points at the half, Gillamac rallied behind Eller Ariate as they raced off to a 23-12 run in the third canto.

Hytsu staged a furious comeback in the fourth quarter but to no avail as Gillamac held on with their defense to log its third win against one defeat.

Ariate lead the scoring spree with 20 points.

Rod Mangubat, on the other hand, buried 28 markers for Hytsu, which dropped to 1-3.

Meanwhile, Worldwide Steel relied on the deadly trio of Jeremy Huang, Kent Ong and Robert Gilo as they lead, 36-23, at the bend.

James Edquilla tried to put up a one-man show, scoring 20 of his 22 points in the second half to put Cebu Del Norte at a striking distance.

However, Worldwide proved too hot to handle to nail its fourth straight victory.

Huang topscored for Worldwide Steel with 20 points while Ong chipped in 15.

In the other game, K-1 Family KTV 2001 bounced back from its loss the other day, pounding Man-Tech '97B, 54-45.

John Paul Cabrera had 17 points to lead K-1 while Jun Comeros scored 12 for Man-Tech.
