Alburo vs. Victorino

Lorelou Alburo of Team Cebu City (TCC) upset ranked no.8 Elbert Anasta in the quarterfinal round of the Mayor Paruhinog Cup National Men's Tennis Invitational in Ozamis City yesterday.
A silver medal winner in the 2005 Arafura Games, Alburo dumped Anasta, 7-6, 7-6, to arrange a semifinal duel against RP no. 2 Joseph Victorino.
Earlier, another Cebuano bet Ilak Tabura failed to hang on and lost to RP no.5 Chemil Mantua, 6-4, 6-4, as Christian "Babaw" Tiongko followed Tabura to the exit doors after losing to his doubles partner, Joel Palao, 6-3, 6-4.
Fellow TCC member Michael Quiñones is still playing at the moment with another player from Ozamis.
In the doubles event, Alburo also booked a semifinal slots after he and his cousin Ilak Tabura beat the equally-seasoned tandem of Rayban Paller and Ray Dinopol, 6-4, 6-4.
Alburo and Tabura will battle the championship ticket against Anasta and Mantua, who secured a semifinal slot after demolishing the hopes of Quiñones and his partner.
Tiongko and Palao, on the other hand, aim to topple the tandem of Joseph Victorino and Jessie Lapore in the quarterfinals.
