Rain Construction-Pardo Chapter demolished United Sports of Talisay Chapter, 59-32, in the Couples and Singles for Christ Inter-South Chapters Basketball Tournament at the Emilio Jaca Sports Complex and Cultural Center in Brgy. Inayawan, this city.
Rain Construction raced to an early 27-15 lead behind the exploits of Juvy Rosal, Arnold Villona and Joramei Cosep. They went on to dominate the match the rest of the way.
Rosal and Cosep topscored for Rain Construction with 12 points apiece, while playmaker Edoy Restauro chipped in 10 markers.
Arnel Dandan had 10 points as USTC fell to 1-1.

The combine power of Fritzgerald "Ilak" Tabura and Bo Alburo came out strong as they ruled the doubles event in the 2nd Southern Leyte Unity Cup Tennis Tournament last Sunday in Maasin, Leyte.
The partnership of Tabura and Alburo proved too much to handle as they found little resistance when they dumped Joel Palao and Toto Jurao, 6-4, 6-2, to pocket the championship purse of P8,000.
On the other hand, the losing team received P4,000.
The tournament was sponsored by Congressman Roger Mercado, Governor Rosit Leria and Davis Paints. - Sona Mae V. Povadora Abugho tops in Talisay; Retanal, Sr. rules San Fernando
After topping the Talisay Active Chess Tournament, Francisco Abugho stamped his mark anew as he carted the crown in the Cebu Executive and Professional Chess Association Open Blitz Chess tournament.
Abugho nipped Voltaire Sevillano in the final round to end the tournament with 6.5 points for the title.
Aside from pocketing the championship purse of P1,500, Abugho also received a trophy and plastic chess sets.
Richard Natividad posted 6.0 points after a win over Eden Diano to settle for second place while Kim Steven Yap had a 5.5 mark to land third.
Natividad and Yap received P1,000 and P500, respectively.
Anthony Makinano, Sevillano, Allan Salientes, NM Elwin Retanal and Renato Casia scored 5.0 points, while Diano and Jobannie Tabada had 4.5 each.
In related development, William Retanal, Sr. dominated the recently concluded 1st Sanggat Fiesta Open Chess Tournament in San Fernando.
Retanal scored 6.5 points while Hector Villamora tallied 5.5 points to wound up second place.
Jojit Lopez, Yves Fiel and Nelman Lagutin finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
