Go-Baldemor tandem wins View Invitational

The tandem of Vicente 'Inting' Go and Bebot Baldemor bagged the overall title of the rain-drenched View Invitational 2005, which ended last Sunday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club (AVGCC) in Pardo, this city.
Go, a member of the club's board of directors, fired 41 points while Baldemor added 40 for a total of 81. The organizers had to change the format of the tournament from 36 holes to the best 18 holes after the players scheduled to tee off last Friday afternoon were rained out.
The View Invitational is the club's annual member-guest event and this year, it drew a record field of 500 players.
The awards ceremony was held last Sunday night at the poolside of AVGCC with several special treats for the participants.
The division I title went to the duo of Koichi Horii and Mitsutero Iida with a total of 78 points. This team is a regular contender in the tournament.
First runner-up for class A was the duo of George Aznar and Rey cartagena, who shot 76 points. Aznar scored 52 points hitting 22 in the front nine and 30 in the back nine. His partner also had a major turn around in his game despite playing with a handicap of zero scoring four points in the front nine and 20 in the back.
Second runner-up honors went to Toby Florendo and Mark Michael.
The title for division II went to Manuel Go and Yasutaka Hosokawa, who won it via the countback.
First runner-up for division II was the tandem of club president Renato Dychangco and Wack-Wack's Andy Co also with 78 points. Second runner-up was the duo of Henry Chin Uy and Stewart Go.
The division III plum went to Richard Lim and Edward Uy while runner-up honors went to Albino Gothong of A.D. Gothong Manufacturing and Tony Tankaw. Second runner-up was the team of Owen Algoso and Marlowe Cugtas.
Gassy Lizares, who aced hole No. 6 last Saturday also received his windfall of prizes for the feat. He won an Audi A-4 from PGA Cars and Prudential Guarantee, a Yamaha motorcycle from Norkis Trading, a Singapore package from Marist Holiday Travel and Tours, airline tickets to Hong Kong from Cathay Pacific, and P100,000 from CICI General Insurance.
Other prizes that were at stake for an ace were a Kia Picanto compact car and a Kia Sorento SUV courtesy of Columbian Auto Corporation, a Sta. Lucia lot, a Club Car golf cart from Turf Company, and a class A share from Aznar Bros. Realty, and an all-terrain vehicle from Granstar Motors.
Nito's (Skygo) International put a Skygo motorcycle on line for an eagle on all par-4 holes. In case nobody scores an eagle, the motorcycle, which was raffled off during the awards ceremony since nobody won it in the tournament.
