Lina, a former senator and DILG secretary, said he will strengthen the BAP by implementing a genuine grassroots sports development program and training and exploring gifted basketball athletes for possible international exposure.
Lina said he will also work with all basketball stakeholders to improve our basketball technologies through workshops and seminars for coaches and trainors and of course organizing a tournament.
Lina was here in Cebu as guest of Mandaue City Mayor Teddy Ouano during the exciting NBC game between Hapee-Dewfoam Mantawi Sparkling Knights and the visiting Valencia-Bukidnon Golden Harvest that went into overtime, with the home team escaping with an 82-79 decision.
Lina took over the post as BAP president just recently when the Philippine Sports Commission suspended the BAP and its secretary-general Graham Lim for enforcing programs inimical to Philippine basketball.
During his message before the Hapee-Valencia game, Lina said that Philippine basketball is already very humiliating because we have difficulty in beating Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and other neighboring Asian countries.(GGM)
