CEBU, Philippines — Mandaue imposes 2-week traffic closure on V. Albano St. for drainage system project

The Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) has advised motorists that starting tomorrow, March 24, the V. Albaño Street— from the corner of L. Jayme Street to the intersection of M. L. Quezon Avenue in Barangay Maguikay— will be closed for the City's Drainage System Project.

TEAM Head Hyll Retuya told The Freeman that the road closure is expected to last for two weeks, beginning Monday, to allow for drainage rehabilitation.

Retuya said the project is significant in addressing flooding in the area and providing a proper drainage system for the location.

With this, the TEAM advised motorists to take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.

“Ako lang mensahe para sa mga motorista nga mag arian diri dapita, nga for the time being, mo likay lang una diri ky para ni sa atoang drainage rehabilitation para ma sulbad ang baha sa area,” said Retuya.

Retuya said drivers need not worry, as the TEAM has provided alternate routes and will place signages at the entry points.

According to the TEAM advisory, motorists heading to Cebu City from M.C. Briones Street may take L. Jayme Street turn left to V. Albaño Street and exit near a mall, or use Sacris Road to reach A. S. Fortuna Street.

Motorists coming from the mall in the area may take V. Albaño Street then turn left to L. Jayme Street toward Sacris Road or turn right to L. Jayme Street toward M. C. Briones Street.

Motorists coming from Sacris Road may take L. Jayme Street, then turn right to V. Albaño Street toward the mall in the area or go straight toward M. C. Briones Street.

To keep motorists informed, TEAM is placing signages to guide drivers along the designated routes.

While the road will be closed, Retuya assured that this will not significantly worsen traffic congestion in Mandaue City since the area is already a one-way route. — JG (FREEMAN)
