Old man dies in fire

CEBU, Philippines — A 75-year-old man perished in a morning fire after he failed to escape from a burning house yesterday morning in Doña Esperanza Village in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

The fatality, who was reportedly ill, was identified as Francisco Labra. He was burned beyond recognition during the fire, according to the Cebu City Fire Station in their fire report.

The fire started at around 6:48 A.M. Firefighters arrived at the area at around 6:53 A.M. and immediately raised the fire to first alarm.

At around 7:22 A.M., the blaze was put under control and was declared fire out at 7:32 A.M.

Fire investigators placed the fire damage at ?450,000 as only one house was burned, owned by Ronald Dagatan, affecting four individuals.

As of this writing, fire officials are still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.  BRP (CEBU NEWS)
