CCYDO launches ‘HIMIGugma’ music contest for Charter Day

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Youth Development Office (CCYDO) is set to showcase the musical talent and creativity of Cebuano youth through HIMIGugma sa Kabatan-onan, a songwriting and interpretation contest held in celebration of Cebu City’s Charter Day.

According to CCYDO, through the City Public Information Office (PIO), the event is “a celebration of Cebuano youth’s musical talent and creativity.”

The contest is open to young composers and performers aged 15 to 30, featuring original compositions that reflect themes of love, unity, and hope.

As per the competition guidelines: Each entry must be an original composition, either by an individual or a collaboration between a composer and lyricist; Songs must be three to five minutes long and centered on love for something; Entries must be unpublished and must not have been posted online, performed publicly, or submitted to other competitions; Songs should be accompanied only by guitar or piano and must be written in Cebuano; Submissions should be in MP3 format.

All entries will undergo screening, and selected finalists will have the freedom to choose their singer for the Song Interpretation Contest.

Registration is ongoing via https://bit.ly/1stHimiGugmaForm while the deadline for submission of entries is set for February 12 via ccydohimigugma@gmail.com.

The grand finals will take place on February 26 at Plaza Sugbo, fronting Cebu City Hall, as part of the Charter Day festivities.
