OPASCOR board reelects Riveral
CEBU, Philippines — The board of directors of the Oriental Port and Allied Services Corp. (OPASCOR) has reelected Tomas Riveral as chairman of the board following their elections held recently.
Reflecting on this milestone, Riveral thanked God for the wisdom and strength bestowed upon the company, particularly during moments of great challenge.
Riveral affirmed that this renewed path isn’t just guided by human resolve, but by faith in a higher purpose that continues to inspire OPASCOR's work and mission.
“This marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for OPASCOR. Together, we embrace the opportunities ahead, with gratitude for the trust you place in us and the shared responsibility to move forward, side by side,” Riveral added.
OPASCOR said Riveral’s reelection to the position is proof that stakeholders still have trust and confidence in him even after some of the employees called for his resignation even filed a notice of strike last September.
No strike culminated after both parties settled their issues amicably.
To strengthen engagement with their shareholders, OPASCOR also established two new committees. These are the Committee for employee-shareholders headed by Director Reynaldo Cadungog and the Committee for Non-employee shareholders headed by Violeta Tabasa.
“These committees reflect our enduring commitment to collaboration and shared progress,” OPASCOR said in a statement.
Established in 1990, OPASCOR is a worker’s enterprise engaged in the service of cargo handling operations at the Cebu International Port. — (FREEMAN)
