Super health center opens in Moalboal
CEBU, Philippines — Senator Christopher "Bong" Go inaugurated on Sunday, January 19, a super health center in Moalboal, Cebu.
The facility is part of the senator’s ongoing efforts to bring accessible healthcare services closer to Filipinos, especially in grassroots communities.
In his speech, Go emphasized the significance of super health centers saying, “Ang mahalaga po ay maibigay natin ang tamang serbisyong medikal sa bawat Pilipino. Hindi po dapat maging hadlang ang kahirapan para makapagpa-check-up o magpagamot.”
The super health center in Moalboal is equipped to handle primary care services, medical consultations, and early detection of diseases.
It aims to reduce the burden on larger hospitals by addressing healthcare needs at the community level. The municipal health office and the local government unit (LGU), in partnership with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) through its Konsulta program, can provide free consultations and services.
“Patuloy po akong tutulong sa pagpaparami ng super health centers sa bansa sa abot po ng aking makakaya. Isa po itong paraan upang ilapit ang pangunahing serbisyong pangkalusugan sa ating mga kababayan," said Go.
Through collaborative efforts of Go, fellow legislators, Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro "Ted" Herbosa, and LGUs, funding has been secured for the establishment of more than 600 super health centers nationwide and about 100 more this year.
Cebu province alone is set to benefit from 21 of these facilities, strengthening its local healthcare infrastructure.
The inauguration also highlighted Go’s continuing service to communities. Attendees received grocery packs, meals, and shirts, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming celebration of the new healthcare facility.
“Ang pangarap ko po ay mas maraming Pilipino ang maramdaman na may gobyernong nagmamalasakit. Magtulungan po tayo para mapabuti ang kalusugan ng bawat isa,” underscored Go, who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
On the same day, Go also visited Cebu City where he joined the celebrations of the Sinulog Festival 2025 at the Cebu City Sports Center and visited the Malasakit Center at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
At VSMMC, he distributed rice porridge and other forms of support to patients, hospital staff, patient guardians, and family members.
The VSMMC’s Malasakit Center is the first in the country established in 2018 and six years after there are now 166 Malasakit Centers in the country serving millions of indigent Filipinos on their medical bills. (CEBU NEWS)
