CEBU, Philippines — After undergoing a labor dispute that led to the filing of notice of strike and the demand for the resignation of its highest ranking official, the Oriental Port and Allied Services Corp. (Opascor) successfully held its board of directors election.

Current chairman Tomas Riveral garnered 28,842 votes, the highest votes among the board members who were elected, signifying that stakeholders still have the trust and confidence in his leadership.

A total of 652 shareholders participated --representing 86% of the outstanding shares.

The election, supervised by a nine-member committee headed by Jemarie Arisga ensured transparency and impartiality; it was further safeguarded by the independent canvassing of Ramon F. Garcia & Company, certified public accountants.
