CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City delegation assured that their supporters and audience alike can expect a “more improved” performance in the upcoming Sinulog Grand Ritual Showdown.

Kristian Marc Cabahug, the executive director of the Mandaue Promotions Tourism Action Center (MIPTAC), told reporters yesterday, January 13, that there are still surprises in store for Mandaue, which everyone should look forward to.

“Ako nalang gyung i- surprise kung unsa siya but it's better than last year and Pasigarbo nga pakulo,” said Cabahug.

He added that every year, the Mandaue City delegation has something special to showcase, whether at Sinulog or Pasigarbo sa Sugbo. Cabahug emphasized that this year is no exception, as audiences can still expect impressive performances.

During their most recent Sinulog sa Lalawigan performance, they incorporated drones and fireworks into their presentation.

The executive director said that they have already finalized the sequence and other aspects of the performance, and they are now focusing on final touches and improvements.

With only five days remaining before their performance, Cabahug mentioned that they are still working on the finishing touches for their props, which have caused some delays as they continue making additional enhancements.

Cabahug said they are about 70% to 75% ready for their performance, with the biggest focus being on their props.

However, he mentioned that since their delegation conducted blocking at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) at 3 a.m. today, January 14, it could help them finalize and complete their props on time.

“I think by then ma finalize na namo ang amoang props, if not at least gamay gamay nalang nga mga touches,” Cabahug said.

The executive director said the Mandaue City delegation will consist of about 380 individuals.

This includes 100 dancers, 150 props men, 60 members of the drum and bugle corps, and the rest will be city police and officials assisting the delegation.

As reported, Mandaue City allocated a budget of P7 million in their participation in Sinulog 2025.

Cabahug previously explained that they have increase the budget which reflects the city’s determination to win and outperform its presentation in Sinulog 2024.

Last January, the city allocated P5 million for Sinulog, but an additional P2 million has been added for 2025, bringing the total budget to P7 million.

Mandaue City’s participation in Sinulog 2025 will mark their return to the event as they participated in the Sinulog sa Lalawigan during 2024. Mandaue City will join the Grand Ritual Showdown for the Sinulog-Based category.

The Mandaue Cultural Dance Troupe, employed by the city as Job Order personnel, will represent Mandaue in the much-anticipated event. — (FREEMAN)
