MANILA, Philippines — At least 50 people were injured when three buses collided along the EDSA Bus Carousel yesterday and another 10 got hurt after a dump truck hit a van in Barangay Bahay Toro.

According to the report of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the first incident happened at around 12:22 p.m. along the southbound lane of the EDSA Bus Carousel in Balintawak.

A Jell Transit bus crashed into an Admiral bus, which then hit a Kellen transport bus, the MMDA said.

The driver of the Jell Transit bus told investigators he lost control of the vehicle after the brakes malfunctioned.

Ambulances from the MMDA, Quezon City government, Philippine Red Cross and other volunteer groups brought the victims to several hospitals for treatment.

In the second incident, the MMDA said 10 people were injured after the dump truck driven by Immanuel Melo, 38, hit a Toyota Hi-Ace van upon reaching Dario Bridge along EDSA. The van, on impact, rear-ended a Honda City subcompact car.

Ten passengers of the van were injured and brought by rescuers to the Quezon City General Hospital for treatment.
