P6 million drugs seized on Christmas Day
CEBU, Philippines — Over P6.8 million worth of drugs was seized on Christmas Day from two individuals who were immediately arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA)-7.
PDEA-7, in coordination with Naval Intelligence Security Group - Central, and Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, conducted the buy-bust operation in Sitio Lower Matumbo, Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, which led to the confiscation of around one kilogram of shabu.
The suspects were identified as Jesson, 30, a construction worker, and his nephew alias John, 26, unemployed, both residents of the said barangay.
A third cohort of Jesson, identified as Rasheed, managed to evade arrest and remains at large.
The confiscated items included one pack of shabu weighing around 1,000 grams, buy-bust money, a smartphone, and other drug paraphernalia.
The operatives of PDEA-7 revealed that the subjects were under surveillance for three weeks wherein information came from a confidential informant.
Upon further investigation, operatives also disclosed that the suspects had no prior criminal records and that the men were known for large-scale drug disposal activities.
The suspects will be celebrating their New Year in jail and will face charges in violations of Sections 5 and 26 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The seized illegal drugs have been transferred to the PDEA-7 Regional Office Laboratory for proper documentation and disposition. (CEBU NEWS)
