Danao to host another International Ultra Trail
CEBU, Philippines — Danao City in northern Cebu is gearing up to host the 2nd season of the International Ultra Trail on March 22-23 next year.
In a press conference held on December 14, the Danao City government, which organizes the event, announced that this edition will be bigger and brighter than the previous one.
The local government promised improvements, as the event is sanctioned and recognized by both the Philippine Trail Running Association (PHILTRA) and the International Trail Running Association (ITRA).
Additionally, the race also serves as the Championship for Philippine Trail Running, with significant prizes at stake, attracting elite trail runners and enthusiasts from across the Philippines and around the world.
Leading the discussions during the press conference were Danao City Mayor Thomas Mark “Mix” Durano, Committee Chair on Tourism Hon. Ivy Durano, Sports Development Officer Vincent Paolo Sybico, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Roland Reyes, Race Directors Herson Ypil and Roland Laping, and PHILTRA Championship Race Director Boying Milan.
Next year’s event will feature race distances of 15 KM, 35 KM, 50 KM, and 100 KM with open elite and various age categories to cater to runners of all levels. In addition, the PHILTRA Championship Race will also feature two exclusive distances—40 km and 80 km. The Ultra Trail highlights Danao City’s Five Peaks, guiding runners through a designed route that includes Mount Manghilao, Licos Peak, Danasan Peak, Mt. Mago, and Lantawan Peak.
Event organizers have promised an unforgettable experience for participants, with trails featuring steep climbs, rugged terrain, and stunning views.
“I am so pleased and proud that my city is able to hold this kind of sport. With our expansion of sports tourism into sports eco-trail, this event gives us the coverage we desire, a power-packed opportunity for the tourism boost that we need,” Mayor Durano said.
Unlike its inaugural year, the 2025 edition of the Danao City International Ultra Trail is organized by the city government of Danao, with support from PHILTRA and ITRA. This collaboration promises a world-class trail running experience, focusing on sustainable eco-tourism and community involvement.
Runners can now secure their spot in this prestigious race through online registration.
