CEBU, Philippines — Close 20 homeowners finally received from the city government a deed of absolute sale (DAS) for the property they occupy.

The latest batch of beneficiaries to receive the very important document, a requirement to proceed with the titling to complete their ownership of the lot, is from Villa Elena Climaco Homeowners Association (HOA) in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

The beneficiaries got their Deed of Absolute Sale from the Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP).

DWUP head, Atty. Ronald Anthony “Butch” Librando, said the close to 20 homeowners were the first batch of beneficiaries from the said HOA to receive the deed of absolute sale. Librando said more beneficiaries are expected to receive their deed of sale in the days to come.

Aside from Villa Elena, DWUP also distributed the same documents to at least 10 homeowners from Centro Bakilid and Lower Suran Homeowners Association. Last month DWUP also distributed deeds of absolute sale to 13 homeowners under Lot 1119 Homeowners Association in Nivel Hills, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

“Agi sa atong pagdumala sa atong siyudad sa Sugbo nga gusto gyud ta nga paspas gyud ang atong panerbisyo sa atong mga kaigsuonan, ato gyud na’ng gisiguro nga ang atong deed of sale mapirmahan na na nato. Kay para this is one step further nga kita na gyuy makatag-iya sa atong kaugalingong luna ug matitulo na gyud sa atong mga tagsa-tagsa nga pangan,” said Mayor Raymond Garcia.

The mayor thanked Librando for heeding his directive to speed up the process. After receiving their deed of absolute sale, homeowners can now proceed with the titling of their property.

“Ang next step ani i-process na nila ang title, individual title, kanang transfer certificate of title,” Librando said.

Librando, however, warned that the process may not be easy because they have to process it before the Bureau of Internal Revenue, City Assessor, and Registry of Deeds.

“Pero at least padong na gyud na siya diha sa individual title,” Librando said. — (FREEMAN)
