City intensifies road asphalting campaign
CEBU, Philippines — Over half of the roads due for asphalting in Cebu City are now close to 60 per cent completion.
The City Public Information Office (PIO) reported that the city government has completed 56% of its road repair and asphalting projects.
Among the areas identified that are already done last month include that along the streets of Don Mariano Cui and Don J Lorente, Borgonia, Lahinglahing in Mabolo, Napolcom Sudlon, Rivaridge, Salazar, Bugnay in barangay Tisa; San Roque St. in barangay Luz and Budlaan road; Mahayahay, Lucio Drive Ext. in Calamba; Forest Hills, Judge Salvador Ext. in Guadalupe; Bamboo Village, Jumalon St. Evac Center sin Basak, main road, and the 3rd and 4th street of barangay Quiot, Purok 3 and Purok 8 in Kamputhaw; San Miguel road, Mactan St. in Apas; Sitio Lusimba in Poblacion Pardo; and Binaliw road in Pit-os.
The area in Carbon Market’s unit 3 and fishport in Pasil has also been asphalted already.
Engr. Joey De Joya, project engineer of the WTG Construction, during a meeting with Councilor Jerry Guardo, chairman of the City Council on the committee on infrastructure, and overseer of the asphalting project, said that the completed works totaled 18, 987.64 square meters.
WTG is also expected to finish asphalting the road in sitio Adelfa in Kalunasan.
Earlier, residents of barangay Bulacao expressed gratitude to Mayor Raymond Garcia for approving the long-overdue road asphalting the other day.
Residents in sitio Riverside; St. Jude Phase 1; Climaco, St. Jude Phase 1; and Teves Compound now enjoyed paved roads again.
The city’s asphalt storm has been one of the 21 impact projects at the start of former Mayor Michael Rama’s administration in 2022 with the city government allocating a big amount of funds for it.
Despite the political movements rocking the city government, Garcia wants all road repairs and asphalting done as soon as possible. — /LPM (FREEMAN)
