MANILA, Philippines —  The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed charges of acts of lasciviousness against former TV5 news executive Cliff Gingco.

A former researcher and the NBI’s Violence Against Women and Children Division filed the case against Gingco before the Department of Justice.

The complaint stemmed from an incident in August wherein Gingco allegedly molested the researcher in a motel room while under the influence of alcohol.

Gingco supposedly invited the victim for drinks in a restaurant to discuss his aspirations of becoming a news reporter.

In response to the victim’s request for assistance, the NBI summoned Gingco in September.

Gingco denied the accusations, but did not submit a counter-affidavit and declined to address questions from the media.

The prosecutor general will review the complaint to determine if there is probable cause to bring the case to court.

Sen. Raffy Tulfo, who brought the matter to TV5 chairman Manny V. Pangilinan’s attention after being approached by the victim on his radio program, said Gingco has been terminated following an internal investigation.
