Submit concrete report,council tells= contractor
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Council has requested Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) rubberized track oval contractor SBD Builders, Inc. a "comprehensive report,” following its regular session Wednesday last week.
The purpose of the report is for the contractor to provide updates on the status of the CCSC’s track oval and the related renovation efforts.
It came a week after representatives from SBD Builders, Inc., the CCSC management, the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), and the City Treasurer's Office appeared in an executive session last Sept. 18.
The request was contained in a resolution authored by City Councilor Nestor Archival, Sr.
He said there is a need to inform the City Council about the status, procedures, and processes employed by the BAC in awarding the renovation contract for the track oval.
It was learned that the approved budget for the track oval renovation was P52,150,854 and that the City Government has already made a partial payment of P31,497,117, which represents 60.4% of the work completed.
SBD was able to successfully bid for the project after showing that it has successfully completed a similar renovation project for a track oval in Central Luzon.
In calling for the report, the City Council cited Section 16 of Republic Act No. 7160 (Local Government Code of 1991), which empowers local governments to exercise powers “essential to the promotion of the general welfare.”
Aside from the comprehensive report, SBD was also asked to submit its contractor's profile and project contract.
Aside from the contractor, the City Council also requested BAC to submit a comprehensive report on the total number of contracts that the City Government of Cebu awarded to SBD Builders, Inc.
It was previously reported that among the primary concerns reasons why the City Council is closely scrutinizing the completion of the CCSC’s track oval is because SBD Builders had risked blacklisting by the City due to delays of its other projects with the city government. (CEBU NEWS)
