Zafra: Bar exams “generally peaceful”
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City’s hosting of another regional Bar exams was a “success” with zero untoward incident, says Councilor Philip Zafra.
Zafra, chairman of the committee on peace and order, said the Bar exams in Cebu City was “generally peaceful and in order.”
“It go on smoothly and that no untoward incident happened,” Zafra said.
Cebu City hosted the three-day regionalized Bar exams at the University of San Jose Recoletos on September 11, 13, and 15.
According to the Supreme Court, there were 10,490 out of the 10,504 aspiring lawyers who successfully hurdled the exams, including the over 1,000 in Cebu City.
The exams covered Criminal Law, Remedial Law, and Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises on the final day. On the first day, there were 10,504 total examinees that started out the exams but two of them withdrew during the afternoon session, according to Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez, the 2024 Bar examinations chairperson.
During the second day of the exams, attendance further decreased to 10,493 for both the morning and afternoon examinations and on the final day, three more failed to finish the exams.
This year’s exams had 13 local testing centers nationwide including the USJ-R-Basak Campus in Cebu City. — (FREEMAN)
