CEBU, Philippines — The members of the Mandaue City Council approved on first reading an ordinance granting a ?3,000 anniversary bonus to all city government personnel who are occupying elective, appointive, and/or regular positions.

The giving of the bonus coincides with the city’s celebration of its 55th Charter Anniversary on August 30, 2024.

The proposed measure principally authored by Maline Cortes Zafra says that since its cityhood 55 years ago, Mandaue City has evolved into a highly-urbanized city and the future primary source of high-value manufactured consumer products.

“It is undeniable that the city officials and employees have made Mandaue what it is today. It is just fitting to acknowledge the efforts of these city officials and employees who made Mandaue City a livable society by granting them an anniversary bonus,” part of the proposed ordinance read.

Zafra, who is the committee chairwoman on finance, said that the grant of the ?3,000 anniversary bonus is pursuant to National Budget Circular No. 452 dated May 20, 1996.

Funds necessary for the implementation of this ordinance shall be charged against any available appropriation and subject to the availability of funds and limits to personnel services covered by the Local Government Code of 1991.

Zafra added that this proposed measure will be calendared next week during their regular session for second and final reading. — (FREEMAN)
