Le Phyllis F. Antojado-Orillaneda - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Suroy-Suroy Sugbo will embark in another tourism adventure in the Midwest Cebu on July 12 to 14, featuring the “best of the west”.

The three-day tourism caravan aims to promote the prime tourist destinations as well as the different cultures in the seven local government units comprising the Midwest—Toledo City, Tabuelan, Tuburan, Asturias, Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, and Balamban.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia challenged the seven mayors during a meeting as part of the preparations to go beyond what they are capable of in promoting their respective locality and give out the best treat to the guests of Suroy-Suroy Sugbo.

“We are now setting the standard. Do it the Cebuano way,” Garcia  was quoted in a Sugbo News report.

Each LGU will get a P500,000 subsidy from the Capitol to help them defray the expenses in the preparations for the tourism caravan.

Delegates of the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo are expected to visit the Capilla Santa Ana Museum and Labyrinth in Toledo City and experience the Bojo River Cruise and Hermits Cove in Aloguinsan.

They will also get to see up-close the world renowned ship building facility in Balamban and experience the scenic view in Tuburan with the town’s local coffee products.

Participants will also be entertained by the cultural dance of each town and city and get to taste the culinary treats and delicacies of the different towns and city.

The tourism caravan comes with a package rate depending on the accommodation of choice of the guest.  Guests who will join the three-day tourism caravan will have to choose their package tour depending on their choice of accommodation.

For years, the Province of Cebu has continued to promote the tourism destinations, cultures, and history of each of its towns and component cities through its flagship tourism program.

Each year, different guests, not just local but also foreigners, participate in at least three rounds of Suroy-Suroy Sugbo—from the Southern heritage trail to northern escapades to enchanting Camotes Islands and exploring the Midwest Cebu.

Cebu Province is known as one of the prime tourism destinations in the country. The towns and cities on the island have unique offers to the guests. Aside from the white sand beaches in Bantayan Island, Cebu island is also known for its waterfalls and the extreme activity in Alegria and Badian in southern Cebu—the alluring Kawasan Falls and canyoneering. –FPL (CEBU NEWS)
